Music

Handcross Park is a wonderful environment for the young musician. Making music is encouraged from earliest beginnings in The Nursery and Pre-Prep, right through to Year 8 in the Prep School.
Children who desire to sing or play a musical instrument are able to receive tuition from our own skilled teachers or peripatetic instructors. There is both a junior and a Senior Orchestra and Choir directed by our excellent Head of music, who has a passion both for his subject and for nurturing young talent.

It is evident from our regular concerts at Handcross Park that many children have great musical ability which we hear in their performances and observe in their grades and competition achievements. Also with the school’s support children have successfully auditioned for the IAPS Orchestra and the National Children’s Orchestra, attending their respective annual Summer and Easter Schools.

At Handcross Park we cater for music of all types and currently boast both a rock and jazz group. Children taking an active part in the school’s music also enjoy orchestra and choir trips to places as diverse as Llaanduff cathedral in Wales and Mary Poppins on the London stage.
